Falls County

The County seat of Falls County is Marlin a small town of 6,000 in a small county of 18,000.  It has been steadily losing population since 1960.

It was not named after the fish, but rather after the pioneer settler John Marlin who settled in the area in 1835.   Interestingly before 1850, the town was known as Bucksnort, so Marlin was certainly an improvement.

It was the Spring Training home to the Cubs, Reds and Giants, between 1904 and 1918.
